Getting to Capurganá
There are two routes. The classic way: bus or flight to Medellín or Montería, then connect to Necoclí or Turbo on the Gulf of Urabá. From Necoclí, the fast boat to Capurganá takes about 45–60 minutes. From Turbo, it's 2–3 hours. Boats typically depart in the morning — plan to overnight if you're coming from far.
Alternatively, small prop planes fly from Medellín (Olaya Herrera airport) or Montería directly to the airstrip at Acandí or Capurganá — faster but weather-dependent and pricier. The hostel team will help you plan the route. Just WhatsApp before you travel.
Best Time to Visit
January–April is dry season: clear skies, calmer seas, best visibility for snorkeling and diving. June–August is also solid. The shoulder months (May, September) can be beautiful too — fewer people, lush jungle. Avoid October–November when the Caribbean can get rough. One note: the waterfalls run stronger in the wet season, so even rainy months have their upside.
